August 27, 1966 – The Beach Boys Peak At No. 2 In The UK

God Only Knows   by The Beach Boys peaks at No. 2 on the UK Charts on August 27, 1966.


August 27, 1967 – The Beatles Lose Their Manager

The famed manager of The Beatles, Brian Epstein, is found dead in his home on August 27, 1967. Toxicology reports would confirm that Mr. Epstein passed from a sleeping pill overdose.


August 27, 1970 – The Last Studio Recording From Jimi

Jimi Hendrix records Slow Blues at Electric Lady Studios in New York City on August 27, 1970. This would ultimately be Hendrix’s final studio recording before his untimely death.


August 27, 1972 – Sunshine Daydream Is Recorded

The Grateful Dead performed at Old Renaissance Faire Grounds in Veneta, OR on August 27, 1972. The concert was filmed and would ultimately be released as a documentary film entitled Sunshine Daydream.

Legendary blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan dies in a helicopter crash following a performance at Alpine Valley Music Theater in Wisconsin.
